74 has a magic about it that just gets me. The sound is so crisp, the band so tight and the playing so inspired...freakin' awesome. If you have the option of streaming this one, do yourself a favor and go for it. But be prepared for an onslaught of Godzilla v. Tokyo proportions.

That's a great Scarlet Begonias, too- nice jazzy groove there, and then the comically bad vocal stylings of Donna, which to me make it more fun.

Hey SDH, one of my favorite shows but I haven't listened to it in a while so now that my computer is back up and running I can put it on my play-uh. I actually just sent this show to the Stella Blue girl from the GD movie cause she was there or something.

But this is one of many great shows from Spring/Summer '74.

Hey Billy T!

In the GD movie during Stella Blue the camera stays on this girl for awhile. She is a friend of mine that knew the Dead and the crew. At the Santa Barbara show she tried to get Jerry to drink wheat grass juice or something and he did but it was his only time.

She has been Facebooking with the crew members lately and wanted me to send her some Dead from the early days. She should have gotten it by now...

Ha--great story! If she was a regular back then, perhaps I saw her...74 was my start, and I was at all the Winterland shows til closing (mostly).

oh ya! great party show...one of my favorites of the year.

very high energy show from stat to finish, almost every song is well played.

and this is one of the hands down, best ever China Cat Sunflowers - the whole band is just flying through the jam at warp speed - check out Billy!
